Colleen came to the Volunteer Center with extensive leadership experience, with emphasis on marketing strategy and operations. Prior to joining our team, Colleen served as the Vice President of Marketing for Quad Graphics, a multibillion, global marketing services corporation. She is eager to apply her management and overall corporate experience to nonprofit mission. Colleen says she looks forward to the challenge of serving 50+ nonprofits through her role as Associate Director.

When she is not meeting with organizations or figuring out the comprehensive ins-and-outs at the Volunteer Center, Colleen is indulging in coffee or her favorite bagel sandwich from The Hub. She is an outdoor enthusiast and particularly enjoys long walks through the woods and kayaking, especially with her trusty companion, Chance, a rescue from the humane society. Colleen also has a passion for organic gardening and can be found planting her extensive garden in spring (something she admits regretting in the fall).

Colleen will be celebrating 35 years of marriage with her husband, Jamie, this summer. They grew up together and are life-long residents of Washington County. They enjoy time with their daughter, Alyssa, and son-in-law, Paul. She comes from a big family and says that she cherishes every minute she gets to spend with her extended family.

Angela has always had a heart for service and a passion for coffee. Her love of both has offered her extensive experience in operating coffeehouses and managing people. Prior to coming to the Volunteer Center as the Director of Operations for The Hub, Angela served in a management capacity for both Starbucks and Fiddleheads.

As the Director of Operations for The Hub, Angela is eager to expand our community offerings and grow our volunteer base. She is also excited to continue fine-tuning our menu with new, fun additions. With a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, she is just the person The Hub needs to create the perfect blend of vibrant community and delicious, flavorful coffee.

When she is not encouraging volunteers, servicing an espresso machine, or resetting the gallery space for our latest event, Angela can be found crafting at home and enjoying the company of her partner and cats. Her latest obsession is embroidery, though she can just as easily be convinced to take a last-minute camping trip or cuddle in on the couch with a good book. And while she has made a career in coffee, she much prefers the taste of a good cup of tea!

Anna grew up in Washington County and has always had a heart for service. When she was searching for an organization to start her career with, she knew she wanted a place that made an impact in her community and a team that was both fun + welcoming. Thankfully, she found both in the Volunteer Center.

Prior to joining the small, but mighty team at the Volunteer Center, Anna earned her marketing degree from UW-Milwaukee. She graduated in May 2024 and was a Marketing & Events intern for Aspen Sky, an event venue located in Slinger, Wisconsin. Now, she engages both our nonprofit partners and members of the community as a Marketing & Outreach Coordinator. Through her role, Anna provides invaluable support to our partner organizations and empowers the people who walk through our doors to make a difference.

When she is not igniting change at the Volunteer Center, Anna can be found spending time with her family and friends, snuggling with her dog, Marlo, or exploring the newest fashion pieces available in cutesy downtown boutiques. She is also a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast and she notes that her free drink from The Hub is one of her favorite perks of the job!

Barbi came to the Volunteer Center following a 32-year-career in education, where she taught sixth-grade with an emphasis on literacy. Now, she is excited to open a new chapter in her career as a member of the community engagement team.

As the Community Engagement Manager, Barbi will be connecting with our nonprofit partners, planning volunteer programs, and finding creative ways to engage volunteers within the community. Additionally, she will oversee the success of these programs and ensure they align with our mission and vision. With a passion for people, Barbi is excited to continue being able to serve others, while encouraging them to become excited about volunteering.

When she is not collaborating with a nonprofit agency or scheduling a Do Good Bus ride, Barbi can be found in nature—walking, hiking, or kayaking. She also has a love for gardening and is guilty of continually adding to her flower collection each spring. Together, with her husband, Dale, and their three adult children, the family enjoys traveling—especially to Germany.

Jen Gerber came to the Volunteer Center from the Cedarburg Art Museum, where she served as the Executive Director. Now, with an intimate knowledge and understanding of nonprofit work, Jen is serving as the Director of Development for the Volunteer Center. Through her role, Jen connects donors to our organization and drives funding to the programs that allow us to serve the community.

While Jen finds great fulfillment in her role, she also appreciates the continued opportunity to teach students at the University of Alabama (“Roll Tide!”), her alma mater. Her two courses, Management Theory & Practice and Philanthropy, Fundraising, and Grant-Writing, are taught in the spring and fall semesters, respectively. 

When she is not connecting with donors or in her virtual classroom, Jen can be found spending time with her husband, Adam, a teacher in the West Bend School District, and Reagan, their college-aged daughter. Residing in historic Downtown Cedarburg, the family enjoys being active in their community and caring for their two rescue dogs, Rey and Olive.

We are grateful to have Jen, and her innate understanding for nonprofit work, on our team and we look forward to growing together!

Kaitlin came to the Volunteer Center following a 14-year-career with Anytime Fitness, where she served as the Club Director and engaged the community through events, social media, and memberships. Now, utilizing the skills she built, Kaitlin is excited to engage the community in a new, meaningful way with the Volunteer Center.

As the Mission Support Coordinator, Kaitlin assists with a variety of tasks, including both office and financial administration, and collaborates closely with each member of our team. She is the utility player of our team–a true jack of all trades!

When she is not moving our mission forward with color-coded Post-Its and spreadsheets, Kaitlin can be found with her husband, Steven, and three daughters: Kenzington (7), Emersyn (5), and Edalyn (3). The family also enjoys the company of their small snuggly companion, Dempsey, a 10-year-old Shih Tzu and the kitties they foster.

While family remains a top priority for Kaitlin, volunteering is also very close to her heart, making her an excellent fit for the Volunteer Center. She currently serves as a Girl Scout Troop leader and volunteers with her husband around the community as part of the Heart & Homestead program. 

Her busy family and community commitments leave her little free time, but when she has a moment, she enjoys baking (Kate Boss is her alter ego for cakes and cupcakes!), traveling, cheering on the Bucks & Brewers, dreaming about Disney World, bingeing seasons of Real Housewives, learning Tik Tok dances with her girls, and supporting local businesses, such as The Norbert.

We are grateful to have Kaitlin, with her bubbly personality and stellar organizational skills, on our team!

Sarah has always had a passion for rich, quality coffee. This passion and an affinity for a well-made Excel Spreadsheet is what led her to pursue management positions at several high-operating cafes in the Milwaukee area. There, she refined her barista skills while developing a heart for service. Recognizing a desire to care for both her community and the people in it, Sarah found The Hub.

Now, Sarah is using her niche knowledge to support a community space that serves more than 55+ nonprofits throughout Washington County! As an Event Assistant + Kitchen Manager, Sarah assists all aspects of The Hub’s operation. She is integral in executing top-notch events for our guests and ensuring that every guest interaction–whether through our coffee shop or event space–is positive + uplifting.

When she isn’t conjuring up new ways to organize inventory or arranging floor plans, Sarah can be found behind the cover of a good book, exploring nature trails, or traveling new places, both near and far!

Valerie (Val) initially came to The Hub as a barista to grow her skills and get involved in the community. Proving to be a fast learner with a deep sense of appreciation for both the mission we fulfill and the people we serve, Val quickly found herself wanting more. When the opportunity to lead the team as café manager presented itself, she knew (as did we!) that she would be a great fit.

As the Café Manager, Val oversees day-to-day operations in our café and ensures a positive customer experience with each and every interaction. She is known for her poised leadership style and ability to engage both volunteers and staff with her welcoming attitude and listening ear.

When she is not creating labels for our bakery case or steaming milk for your seasonal latte, she can be found exploring new restaurants with her boyfriend or snuggling with her pets (she is a true animal lover!). She also loves visiting new coffee shops and trying various drink combinations. Her favorite part of the job is connecting with the community and building relationships with volunteers.
